104 Professionals Earn
Certification
The CCHP roster passed the 2,000 mark on Oct. 1, when 104
correctional health
professionals who took exams in July, August and September
officially became certified. This brings the total of new CCHPs
this year to 303. (Note: For those who passed the exam in
October, certification does not begin until January 1, 2009.)

Program Strong and Growing
The number of newly certified
professionals rose by 23% last year, and 9 out of 10 current
CCHPs renewed their certification.

Congratulations to 153 New
CCHPs!
The CCHP board of trustees congratulates the
latest professionals to earn certification in correctional
health care. Through dedication and study, the 153 new CCHPs
have demonstrated mastery of national standards and the
knowledge expected of leaders in this field. They passed
proctored examinations in February, April and May at test sites
across the country. They join thousands of correctional health
care professionals who have earned this distinguished credential.

Program Participation Continues to Rise
Review of 2007 participation in the
CCHP program shows a 23% increase in first-time CCHPs compared
to the previous year, and a certification renewal rate of 89%. (Spring 2008)

Gets Three Fresh Faces in 2008
The board welcomes three new members: Ruth Wyatt, RN, CCHP,
won the Fall 2007 election; Becky Pinney, RN, CCHP, is the
public appointee, and Don Kern, MD, MPH, CCHP, is the appointee
from the NCCHC board of directors. (Fall 2007)

Celebrates 15 Years: Break Out the Crystal!
This spring, more than 100 correctional health professionals
will participate in the CCHP exam at test sites in Nevada, North
Carolina, Oregon and Wisconsin. These individuals, like those
who took the first exam 15 years ago, hope to distinguish
themselves as professionals who have the knowledge expected of
leaders working in the field of correctional health care.

Celebrating
Longevity
The CCHP program has been
in existence for over 15 years. Many in the group of brave
souls who took the first CCHP exam in the fall of 1989 remain
active in the program today.
To celebrate their
dedication, special 15-year gold tabs that hang on the
CCHP pin were distributed at the 2005 National Conference on
Correctional Health Care. These long-timers also were recognized
during the Tuesday luncheon at the conference.
If you are a 5-, 10- or 15-year CCHP but
missed the meeting, you can purchase a pin enhancer for $10 via
the NCCHC online catalog.
