Presented by the National Commission on Correctional
Health Care and the Society of Correctional Physicians
Last year's inaugural event was a great success, attracting
medical directors and physician leaders of all experience levels
who came to learn not only from expert presenters but also from
each other. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, but to provide
even greater benefit we are refining this year's program.
-
Physicians
new to leadership, e.g., task force
leaders, department heads, regional chiefs
-
Physicians being groomed as
leadership
candidates
-
Physicians viewed as
opinion leaders on the
medical staff
-
Current physician leaders who would benefit from
a refresher course on the essentials
We highly recommend that chief physician executives attend alongside
their registered physician participants.
Senior-level attendance
signals the importance of partnership between physician leaders and
executives and enhances the opportunity to apply Boot Camp learning
to facility goals and objectives.
-
Two full days of both didactic and hands-on learning
experiences
-
Two tracks in certain topics, one for those relatively new to
corrections and one for the seasoned professional
-
Additional structured networking sessions
-
A mentor matching program for those interested in either side of
the relationship
Program Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this
program,
participants should be able to...
-
Examine the role of medical directors in a correctional
setting, including administrative roles, setting clinical
policy, applying legal and ethical practices, and
interacting with outside specialists, corrections and other
health staff
-
Employ process improvement systems such as quality
improvement and risk management to operate an effective
correctional health delivery system
-
Design effective models of care that are essential to a
correctional practice
-
Manage
correctional health care staff, including recruitment,
retention and supervision
