Continuing
Education Program |
|
As an
approved provider of continuing education for
physicians, nurses and psychologists, NCCHC offers
valuable CE credit to readers of the Journal.
This requires that each article published be accompanied
by learning objectives that guide the educational
activity. We also ask authors to supply questions for
the self-study exam in each issue.

Journal of Correctional Health Care
JCHC is
the only national, peer-reviewed scientific journal to address
correctional health care. Published quarterly, it
addresses a broad range of topics such as clinical care, health services and
support, personnel and staffing, ethical issues, medical
records, continuous quality improvement, risk management and
medical-legal issues.
We welcome manuscripts in any of
these areas. At present we also are seeking papers that focus
on:
·
Innovative programs to
assist adults or juveniles as they reenter the community from a
correctional setting. In particular, we are interested in the
linkages that support such programs, and how these linkages are
identified, established and maintained.
·
Accountability for performance, both clinical and administrative
as this demand has increased in correctional health care. We are
seeking papers that present models or case studies of how to
measure performance to ensure that objectives are being met.
Please download the
Information
for Authors (PDF) for complete editorial policies and a
submission checklist.
Authors whose manuscripts are
accepted will be asked to provide a CV, as well as a conflict of
interest disclosure form, learning objectives and exam questions
for the continuing education program.

CorrectCare
This quarterly magazine of the National Commission on Correctional Health
Care is sent free of charge to more than 15,000 health care professionals
who work in correctional facilities
(jails, prisons, and juvenile detention and confinement facilities) and
others, such as lawyers and government
officials, in related fields.
CorrectCare addresses a variety of issues regarding health care in corrections. Stories can report on clinical issues such as infection control,
disease management and advances in medicine; legal and ethical concerns such as inmates' rights to health care, professional ethics, and the rights and responsibilities of health care providers; and
the everyday concerns of professionals in this ever-changing field. If you are not sure about a story idea, send
a proposal or an outline. If we accept your proposal, we will help you develop an article.
Articles must be received at NCCHC
at least 30 days before publication and, if space is available, will be printed at the discretion of the editor. Articles must be original material,
typed and range from 800 to 1,500 words. Photographs, figures and artwork, including original cartoons and drawings, are welcome.
Authors must indicate if their
article has been submitted to any other publication. (This is
for information purposes only. CorrectCare does not require
exclusive publication rights; however, original material
appearing in CorrectCare is copyrighted by NCCHC.)
Articles should be submitted electronically, via e-mail or
computer
disk, and should include each author's name, degree, professional affiliation, mailing address,
telephone number
and e-mail address.
